EDU 08 SEMINAR [ Tools of Assessment -Tests ]

Tools of Assessment     Classroom assessment tools and other informal assessment tools provide key information regarding teaching and learning so that changes can be made as necessary. The central purpose of classroom assessment is to empower both teachers and their students to improve the quality of learning in the classroom through an approach that is learner-centered, teacher-directed, mutually beneficial, formative, context-specific, and firmly rooted in good practice. It helps for assessing course-related knowledge and skills, learner attitudes, values and self-awareness and for assessing learner reactions to instruction.   Tests Tests may be of different forms, such as psychological tests used to measure mental and behavioral traits, achievement tests to assess performances of students, etc. They can be used to assess both the scholastic and co-scholastic abilities of the students. The tests are those instruments by which a teacher collects information as data through v

SUBJECT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY [ Film Review - The Man who Knew Infinity ]

REVIEW OF THE FILM  'THE MAN WHO KNEW INFINITY' As part of our subject association  activity,    we watched the move "The Man who Knew Infinity" based on the life of Indian mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan on 21/3/2022. The film tells us story of the remarkable early-twentieth century mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan. The film is exceptionally well scripted and includes a stellar cast. Ramanujan's genius grading recognized when he was growing up in South India. The movie gives hope that someone who always believed themselves to be ordinary can shine and be stunning. This is exactly what happens to Srinivasa Ramanuja Iyengar, played by Dev Patel in  " The Man who Knew Infinity". The film stars Dev Patel as Srinivasa Ramanujan, a real life mathematician who after growing up poor in Madras, India, earns admittance to cambridge University, during World war I, where he becomes a pioneer in mathematical theories with the guidance of his professor, G.H. SUBJECT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY [ Pi Day ]

π  - DAY In association with Pi-day on March 14, 2022, we the students of Mathematics optional planned to organize a discussion about Pi day is order to remember this day which is associated with Math. Pi day is an unofficial holiday that celebrates the mathematical constant Pi. It is celebrated on March 14 in countries that follow the month/date/year format because the digits in the date (3/14) corresponds to first three digits of (3.14) value of Pi.  Pi day on  March 14 also coincides with Albert Einstein's birthday. Pi (π) as a symbol never fails to enchant students. The curiosity associated with this Greek letter and its usage is extraordinary. As part of our subject association activity, we observed pi day on 18th March 2022. This day is an annual event that celebrates mathematical concepts and achievements behind the symbol  π . We condercled π-day celebration with the aim of learning about this seemingly enigmatic constant and to witness more appreciation and enthusiasm fo

SUBJECT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY [ Talk on Career Paths ]

TALK ON CAREER PATHS As part of our BEd curriculum we conducted a subject association activity based on Mathematics. It was a talk  on the topic "Best Mathematics Career Paths" on February 16th 2022. The programme started at 2:45 pm. Our association. secretary Selpa introduced the session. One of our friends Naveen conducted the talk. The talk covered an overview of career paths in mathematics, eligibility tests, job vacancies etc. He explained about several   mathematics  careers including what these jobs entail, their growth and earning potential, and the skills needed to be succesfull.  He also explained that the demand  for mathematics expert has grown exponentially in a  number of careers. He also highlighted the importance of the subject statistics in different fields. He discussed that mathematician and statistician jobs are among the most promising career paths based the most on their income levels, growth, outlook and low stress work environments. He explained differ

QUIZ PROGRAMME As part of Subject association activity a quiz programme was ssuccessfully organised 20/01/2022. Our association secretary Silpa monitored the programme and explained the rules and regulations to be followed in conducting the quiz competition. Two groups were formed, namely Team Ramanujan and Team G.H Hardy, each comprising of six members. The competition was held between these two groups. Two students from each group, Nithya and Jebin noted down the scores of their respective groups. Quiz programmes are often conducted to encourage to students to look beyond their textual knowledge and establish relationship between theory and application of the learnt concepts.  The main objective of conducting the quiz was to develop mathematical attitude and to evaluate mathematical knowledge of the participants. Two students, Anju and Silpa representing each team asked questions to the opposing team, the event witnessed active participation of the students. Each team showcased thei

SUBJECT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY [National Mathematics Day ]

NATIONAL MATHEMATICS DAY DECEMBER-22 A s part of. our B.Ed curriculum, we the students of F.M.T.C Mathematics optional started our  association activity by celebrating National Mathematics day on 7th January 2022. National Mathematics day is celebrated every year on December 22nd honouring the birth anniversary of mathematical genius, Srinivasa Ramanujan. The main objective behind celebrating the day is  to raise awareness among children about the importance of mathematics for the development of humanity. Since National Mathematics Day is an important day that is related to matematies, our association secretary Silpa initiated the session. In this session, we shared the ideas, importance and knowledge about National Mathematics Day, being a B.Ed. trainee.  The event was commenced by Nithya, who displayed samu mathematical tricks to understand the square of a difficult number. Then Tijo introduced a trick to easily find out trignomeric table values. The event then advanced with an infor
